Talbot Theatre is an ambitious plan. A new build state-of-the-art cultural facility, for the students of Malahide Community School and for the wider community of Malahide and Portmarnock, young and old to experience the power of theatre and the joy of creativity.   

Talbot Theatre will include:


  • A state of the art multi-use platform stage
  • Retractable auditorium seating for 300
  • State of the art sound, lighting and projection facilities
  • Changing facilities, backstage area and extensive storage
  • Additional classrooms that offer practice and rehearsal facilities
  • A roof garden and outdoor science classroom


Talbot Theatre will provide:

  •  
  • A first class performance space for our young dramatists, dancers, musicians and                      wordsmiths.
  • A state-of-the-art stage, rehearsal, and auditorium facility for our annual Transition Year musical production
  • A dedicated display space for our Art and Technology student exhibitions
  • A first-rate environment for our internationally successful debaters, encouraging higher              levels of participation and engagement
  • A venue to host curriculum linked theatre productions and workshops, to help students fully engage and understand the chosen Junior and Senior cycle play, poem or prose
  • A vital hands-on learning space for biodiversity and environmental sustainability                          education, which will further develop our Green School credentials and ethos
  • A fit for purpose auditorium to facilitate school assemblies, open days and official exams
  • A meeting, performance and exhibition space for groups, societies and business across our community
  • A modern, contemporary, and comfortable entertainment venue that will bring national and international acts to Malahide and north county Dublin.
  • A successful theatre and cultural venue that will have a significant impact on the local economy, benefiting other local businesses.

Talbot Theatre aims to:     


  • Inspire and enable more students to explore the creative process, to develop their communication skills, to discover a new talent and to hone their social and collaboration abilities
  • Raise aspiration and ambition amongst students by providing a state of the art creative and learning environment
  • Offer community arts groups in Fingal the purpose built venue they desperately need
  • Deliver the technical capacity required by high quality home grown and visiting music and drama productions
  • Increase school revenue through regular weekend hire by community groups and businesses
  • Develop a thriving community around the theatre, that enriches the lives of those involved
